As with the other pages it seems most effective to start with the before pictures. On the left is the north side of the dining room - at the time it was the living room. The paneling was very dark. To the right was the south side of the dining room - at the time it was a bedroom (with lavender walls and a window a/c unit. The first new (post flood) furniture that Daryl purchased was this oak dining table and chairs (below left).
We set the table with our wedding china, flatware and crystal when Ronnie, Zach, Jonah, Summer, Daryl and I were all home for Christmas dinner. After squeezing together we decided it was time to get a bigger table - especially since the kids tend to bring home guests. Let me preface this by saying - this is not to be misconstrued as pushing - but we may actually have daughters-in-law and/or grandchildren to accommodate in the future.
That said, we found this lovely dining room set at Wiggins Furniture at the outlet mall in Conroe. It has 2 leaves and seats 10 comfortably. We got upholstered chairs so we can actually sit at the table and talk without discomfort.
For my birthday this year I had a high tea (below) and we used my new everyday dishes (Merlot from Pfaltzgraff). The clotted cream was heavenly (sounds gross but trust me it is fantastic). We had fresh berries, scones, lemon curd, paté, several biscuits and cookies and, of course, tea (Jasmine & Blackberry).
The dining set had accent pieces and we opted for the buffet table (left) and the hutch (right).
The tea pots are courtesy of the queen pack rat (Gail).
And last but certainly not least ...
